5. Rueben Beasley, b. 1774 in Darlington District, Lee Co., SC and died 09-12-1825 in Copiah Co., NS.
Two of his sons, the Reverend J S Beasley, a Methodist minister; and John Wesley Beasley, remained in SC. John Wesley Beasley, who passed away in 1920 at the age of 73, was a respected and prosperous planter in Darlington Co.
Dr Beasley's paternal grandfather, Rueben Beasley, was a substantial planter and slave holder in the Andrews Mill section of Darlington Co, where he held office of Sheriff.
In 1823-1825 he moved to MS (In 1823 child born in SC and in 1825, child born in MS.), b. 1774 in Edgecombe Co., NC
He married Martha Jane Scarborough in 1792, daughter of Addison Scarborough and Josie Howell. She was born 1775 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, and died before 1798.
